Some people try to access YouTube using a proxy just find that it doesn’t work. This is common. Web based proxies need to have a flash player built in which can decode and play the video. Most sites don’t have this, and those that once did found that it stopped working after some time. This is because the streaming method use can change over time and the players need to be updated. There are a few webproxies which can play YouTube vids, but it is rare.
VectroTunnel lets you play YouTube videos via your browser without having to visit any special sites first.
